Artist Statement:

In the Broadbent Sisters' first collaborative exhibition, the sisters present a fireworks show in pen. This mixed-media show features YouTube screen-grabs of fireworks re-imagined through the mundane blue ink of grocery lists, diaries and exams. The sisters' meditative process creates a vital and reflective series of large-scale works expressing a unique sense of pop spirituality. Explosions of light from beneath dark expansive spaces reveal fire and magic: spectacles turning to dust, stroke by stroke, boom by boom.
